You'll have exceptional communication skills, be able to finesse a final set of statutory accounts from ETB and build budgets, forecasts and cash-flows for our top owner managed business client base. You'll be expected to manage a client portfolio, share staff resource, be responsible for internal budgets, fees and debt management. In addition you'll work "on the business" of Total Tax Group, shaping our systems and processes from a position of understanding exactly what our clients need from us. ACA/ACCA with previous practice experience, although industry expertise will be considered extremely useful, you'll have hands on knowledge of Xero, Float/Spotlight, Sage 50.
You'll be at ease with incomplete records jobs, bringing the the accounts preparation to ETB, usually from quarterly VAT return preparation for which you'll also be responsible. Speaking directly to clients you'll build those relationships as part of a team of professionals and be expected to pitch in with any of the annual cycle of accounts and tax return preparation functions. Part qualified ACA/ACCA or AAT with previous practice experience, working knowledge of Xero useful but not essential as training will be available.
You'll be able to prepare director/shareholder, sole trader and simple partnership tax returns and deal with routine income tax computations, including rental income, savings and pensions. You'll contact clients directly on all aspects of their income tax affairs and be encouraged to build your client relationships via email, phone and meetings. Qualified at ATT level or willing to study, you'll have clear, literate writing skills, be proficient in word and excel and have a desire to think beyond the obvious, spotting inconsistencies, looking for opportunities and asking questions.
You'll be able to prepare all nominal ledgers from raw data into Xero Ledger or Cashbook, and be able to reconcile bank and VAT accounts. Experience of VAT return preparation not essential but extremely useful. Xero Certified essential, if you don't currently have this distinction training will be available.
