To succeed in business it is important to surround yourself with positive and supportive like-minded people.

I qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Wilkins Kennedy in London, became a Partner in their Orpington office and worked with them for over 17 years. The exposure to such a varied mix of clients as well as the opportunity to travel was invaluable - few can say they have been to the Falkland Islands to prepare accounts and tax returns.

With a growing family, a move to Dorset made sense and in 2004 I become co-owner of Hugh Davies & Co in Salisbury. In 2017, I joined Sophie as co-owner of the Total Tax Group, along with my clients and the combined offering of a Chartered Tax Advisory and Chartered Accountancy practice provides depth and breadth to our service.

My accounting knowledge and business experience provides a platform from which to help owner-managed businesses achieve the best possible results. I provide robust financial planning and accounting support to our business clients with a focus on “making a difference”. My professional aim is to be the sounding board for my clients, always there to provide what is needed, when it's needed.  I am pleased that my client base is made up of long-standing relationships, through diverse industry sectors, which creates varied opportunities for growth.

I’m an advocate of cloud-based accounting systems, such as Xero as I see the undoubtable business benefits of full finance transparency. I have been a Certified Advisor for Xero since 2011, and our practice is a Xero Gold Partner.

Outside of work, I am a true running fanatic. I ran the Great South Run for the 8th year in a row in 2016 - and shall again in 2017!.  I’ve completed half Marathons including the Great North Run, twice. My highlight was taking part in the 2011 London Marathon which I completed in a creditable time of 4:43 - I’d like to beat this before I get too old!
